| Programme Note | A light-hearted piece designed to create the excitement and atmosphere of a Scottish Highland Gathering. The two tunes used are typical of the music heard throughout the length and breadth of Scotland on such occasions and are extremely popular with highlanders. The orchestration is `light' but the nature of the music lends itself to `doubling' of the parts to achieve the desired sonority and timbre at the various dynamic levels. George MacIlwham |
