| Programme Note | Nocturne is a setting of one of the love poems in the Carmina Burana collection. The poem extols the refreshing balm of sleep as night draws on, but also looks forward to the sweet delights of re-awakening to love. It abounds in evocative imagery. The music is gently lyrical, and was written in 1989 for the Girls' Choir of the Szilagy Erzébet Gyimnázium in Budapest, after their visit to Aberdeen International Youth Festival. |
