| Programme Note | This instrumental piece was written for a group of adults with learning difficulties. One gentleman in the group had a slight physical disability, which resulted in his right hand shaking almost constantly. Yet his shaking was also pulse-based and by offering him a beater while placing a chime bar close to his hand he was able t acquire a musical experience of his natural rhythmic tendency. The piece is intended to be played by three people and is score for a drum, suspended cymbal and chime bar (A'). The therapist should play a piano or keyboard. In additional to the assistance with physical control and coordination as suggested above, this composition encourages respect for each group member through waiting, observing, following a directed cue from the therapist and, most of all, listening. |
