| Programme Note | These two short pieces are composed around ancient Greek music. The first movement is mostly based on the old dorian scale while the second uses the Seikilos Song that is inscribed on a stele in ancient Greek musical notation along with its text. It probably dates from about the 1st century AD but may be older. |
