| Programme Note | The sky fragments are represented by the high notes on the piano and the piccolo and the earth fragments by the low notes on the piano and the bassoon. The Collector is represented by the piano in the middle register. The music for the collector slowly extends. It takes on material from the sky and the earth Who is the mysterious Collector? Perhaps it's a person seeking truth and wisdom. The gatherings are in both the mental and the physical realm. However, the mental collection proves to be merely a series of questions without answers, and the physical collection consists of material possessions which are superficial and empty. -Jane Serter, July 2014 |
