NotesDedicated to Rene Waterman on the occasion of her 90th birthday.
Programme NoteThe piece employs the simple device of two voices moving in opposite directions from each other. One voice begins with loud high fast notes and, as it descends, the notes become slower and softer. The other voice begins in the bass with slow, soft notes and moves up with gradually quickening, louder notes. The two parts cross each other at bar 27, as indicated at the dotted lines.
