Notes
Programme NoteBoth the words and music of these 6 little songs for choir were written specially for the Walbrook Singers' competition. The 6 poems about the strangeness and mystery of crossing thresholds were provided by my daughter.

In the treble part I try to consider the needs of younger less experienced singers by limiting the difficulty and tessitura. Where the notes become a little more complicated, as in song 4, the time signature remains constant. Where the time signatures are more challenging I severely limit the notes themselves; this is the case in song 5, where the syllable structure of the verse should also help to fix the 2+2+2+3 metre. In addition to all that, the division of the piece into sections most of which last about a minute each means that there are frequent opportunities of reorientation!

The term "soli" is used in every case to indicate spotlighted parts, not the use of a soloist.
