| Programme Note | Deeply influenced by the dramatic gotic ethos of the vocal group Ex Tenebris, I wrote this piece after my first meeting with its shadowy mystagogue, Caitríona O'Leary. The five short movements of Weird and weird belong in the shadows. I envisage their midnight performance at sickle moon under echoing gothic arches to a distant accompaniment of howling wolves. |
