| Programme Note | I originally conceived this piece as a duet with the interweaving lines shared between the clarinet and piano. It was for my Dublin friends, the pianist Margaret O'Sullivan Farrell and her husband, clarinettist Peter Farrell. When I realised that the piano's top line matched the viola's range quite closely, I made this version in which the piano has been deprived of the co-starring role but in compensation its part has been slightly beefed up. |
