Notes
Programme NoteThe text of "The Homeward Journey" is based on an ode taken from 'The She King' (Book of Poetry) translated by Dr. James Legge, and published Hong Kong, 1871. The book contains 305 poems, and was in existence by the time of Confucius (551-487 B.C.)

Dr. Legge invited others to present the odes in a faithful metrical version. While I have tried to remain true to the spirit and meaning of Dr. Legge's translation, considerable re-phrasing has been necessary to render the Ode suitable for musical setting.
