| Programme Note | Towards the end of 2000 I was collaborating with the Irish writer Greg Rosenstock in writing a large music theatre piece on the legend of Gilgamesh, using woodwind and brass. Suddenly it was suggested to me by my clarinet teacher that there was not enough music for small combinations like clarinet & bassoon, and the idea immediately occurred to me to extract some of the music from the large piece and recompose it as independent movements for this combination. Later I made some small modifications which allowed the pieces to be played by Clarinet and Cello also. |
