| Programme Note | This short piece resulted from an equally short conversation with Greg Lawson, to whom I dedicate it. The subject of that conversation was what consititutes the soul of the violin. The piece deals comprehensively with that question (taking a whole 3 minutes, but I wasn't in a rush). Having encountered various obstacles, not the least of these being the infamous 'scratch tone', the violin's soul comes through serenely at the end, without any sort of scratch - on its character, tone, or hopefully its varnish. |
